HEALING BODY AND SOUL

Post undergrad, I lived in Honduras while working on a research project. It was there I discovered my longing to return to school and learn how to take my lived experiences, love for people, and desire for healing to become a therapist. Moving from Michigan to Seattle for graduate school, I was quickly drawn toward the intersection of the body, identity, and trauma.

For more than a decade, I have worked in inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient programs supporting people struggling with severe eating disorders. In this work, I discovered that behavioral change alone wasn’t enough for these folks. Lasting healing required somatic awareness, emotional connection, and nervous system repair.

My commitment to somatic therapy is also in reflection of my personal healing. Growing up within Christian culture, I often felt afraid of or disconnected from my own body. Messages around sexuality and embodiment left me confused, ashamed, and silenced. But part of me stayed lit. A small internal flame that eventually led me toward healing, reclamation, and embodied self-love.

Because of my story, I am deeply committed to helping others reclaim their bodies, their sexuality, and their spiritual identities. You do not have to give up one to have the other. You get to create a relationship between your faith and your identity that feels aligned, grounded, and true.

I believe therapists must invest in their own healing to hold space for the healing of others. I continue to do my work because you deserve someone steady, rooted, and present as you navigate your own story.

WILL I BE A GOOD FIT?

The clients who are most drawn to working with me are folks who:

  • Have a painful relationship with their body and want to see growth and change.
  • Have tried many years of only talk therapy and find they continue to struggle in finding lasting healing.
  • Have faith narratives that have dampened, suppressed, or “cut off” their sexual and gender identity.
  • Have a desire to move into a healthy relationship with themselves and are afraid and unsure how to begin this journey.
  • Have struggled in their relationships with others and long for true connection.
  • Are clinicians who are committed to their continued growth and healing for the longevity of their own careers as healers.

Helping you safely become intimately close with your own body and sexuality and feeling safe to build rich relationships with the people in your life is my greatest hope for you. As I have witnessed in my clients over the years, they have been able to truly thrive as their unique and GOOD self!

JENNY, OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

When I’m not helping you through your healing, you’ll find me baking delicious treats, enjoying long walks with my dog, being the “fun, loud” aunt to my niece and nephew, and singly loudly and often! Joy is crucial in this life and I experience it most while embracing the small moments of delight through spending time with my family and friends, finding the best coffee and ice cream in Denver, traveling to new and familiar places, or wandering into the mountains. It has been during my travel experiences in other countries, (Zambia, Honduras, England, New Zealand, Iceland), where I came to know myself as a playful, brave, strong, curious, and confident woman. I consider myself a forever learner and am committed to continuing to grow in my capacity to heal and be healed.

You are invited to start, or continue, your healing journey today! I would be honored to support you in learning how to thrive and be embodied in your life and feel deeply connected to yourself, others, and whatever else you believe in. I look forward to meeting you and starting this work together!
